Heh. Welcome back!
The Ultra Beasts, etc., are quite exaggerated. I hereby nickname the legendaries Megalion and Lunamazing. It does seem that using words like these constantly might make it seem like any other series, because they are meant to have most of the impact and could be used in any series. Japanese series can get away with it while still seeming borderline 'sophisticated' or cultural, which is basically where Pokémon's image is at at this point. Other series have also taken advantage of this, usually by throwing out things like ramen, kimonos, traditional greetings, etc., haphazardly. Pokémon was quite resistant to this at first, but eventually seems to have been assimilated.
It's slightly strange, because Western audiences often either object to the cultural systems that gave rise to these customs, or in any case feel little need to copy them.
While Pokémon begun with high goals, like being the 'very best than no-one ever was,' etc., or if you like Ultra Best, they didn't take on the tendency of other series to just characterise all the stuff in them as ultra and Mega something. They hence fit into Western culture more easily than others might. Phrases like 'Gotta Catch 'Em All' alongside things like 'Ultra Beasts' would just seem out of place. Western series can represent highly 'evil' things, as dystopian novels try (presumably the novelists are perturbed that anyone else has to have power in this novel - novelists are selfish people), but generally hold back from presenting the opposite. Japanese series, to the contrary. This often leads to meandering because there isn't a clear enemy. Books like 'Snow Country' are good in part because they inhabit the inter mundia of this cultural shift, they portray things as lacking this sense of good or as a void in the place of the general heart of many anime, etc. Pokémon has more Western influence by now, in part because it was less cultural at first, but still tries to prevent this from affecting the protagonists and creatures. If you were a member of 'evil teams,' and in this it's worth noting that Pokémon is just about fighting 'crime' and hence highly establishment, you would increasingly have to ignore these cultural aspects and take on a more 'Western' progression, which is the general direction these have gone in. Because Sun and Moon is a bit of a tourism-themed game, this has to be quite clearly delineated, hence the slightly amusing choice of 'Team Skull' as a name alongside Ultra Beasts, etc. (With all of these 'ul's you'd expect it to be Ireland.)
Anyway, another good one:
Your assignment isn't on time. How many days since the deadline? Um, let me check... Yes? It's over nine thousand!!!

When they say best type Pokémon, they of course mean things like Golduck, Alolan Persian, Fearow, the Zubat line and the Poliwag line. Apart from Politoed, who might be too well-mannered. Anyway, if you believe in the overrated legendary Pokémon, you probably go around with an Eevee because you consider Flareon to be worse. Your teams, which probably use Mr. Mime as a sweeper and a Marill for stalling, are pathetic in the wake of best type Pokémon. Mewtwo might have pointed this out to you.
Although Mewtwo was one of your overrated legendaries, he at least believed in the power of the best type Pokémon. If they were good enough for Mewtwo, then what are we to think of those trainers who eschew them because - quelle horreur - they might just kill the opponent?
DarthSpearow is correct to go around with a Lanturn, enquiring of each of you, as to whether you understand the best type Pokémon. And he must not merely leave it at that, satisfied if you consider Misdreavus to be 'meh, alright.' Like the enquiring Xatu, he must go up to you all and ask whether you truly understand the superiority of Girafarig to Latias, of Forretress to Zapdos, of Donphan to Raikou. You might consider Noctowl with uncertainty, fearful that its power might be too much for you who are only used to the overrated legendaries.
A good Pokémon is difficult to find, it does not simply hang around waiting to be caught. You must use wisdom to find them.
