Idea: Short Legendary Game

Hey! How are you doing?

It was about time the Squirtle Squad showed up. We're currently being besieged by Team Rocket and their wall of exclamation marks. They want to take over in the name of Meowthism-Marksism.

Anyway, the idea could be good. A brief but fairly dramatic game featuring the legendaries seems like your intent? Presumably in Gen. III or so, where there are quite a few - you could edit in some later ones, but do you need that many more?

If you start with Mew or Jirachi, then you might want to add a final starter choice which is more aggressive, or closer to the kind of drama you might expect from the legendaries. Mew might also be problematic if you wanted to use a Mew v. Mewtwo thing, which might be useful as it's a dramatic scenario which you can easily place in the game. Have the trainer choose one, then fight someone with the other, for instance.

You might wish to create an option to take a certain Pokémon from some opponents after they are defeated. Just add a 'givePokémon' script (or corresponding hex), or have a Pokeball appear, etc. This would seem like an effective way to catch the legendaries, so it might be more effective than just relying on wild encounters. Anyway, try to make the general sequence of the game slightly difficult, so for instance avoid giving Rayquaza straightforwardly to the player until later.

Perhaps add a FEAR-directed Rattata or such in the wild, if you want to be slightly off-key.

If you want, you could ask people here for Fakemon legendaries, which could be found and caught in the post-game. That would help with creating a post-game that could keep players going, and give the game another form of interest. It seems like a decent option to draw on people's views on legendaries if you're making a game centred around them.
